• JGNW TEAM Rules & Policies

  • Thank you and congratulations on becoming a JGNW team member.  Being a member of any team requires a considerable amount of time, hard work and dedication.  Being a member of a gymnastics team (as an athlete or parent) is even more work and dedication than most other types of teams.  At JGNW we take team membership very seriously and we hope that athletes and families have weighed the amount of dedication, time, and work before deciding to become a team member.

Our mission as a staff training competitive gymnasts is to provide a competitive experience that is in line with the individual goals of the athlete.  While gymnastics can be a team sport at JGNW we strive to provide an experience for the individual that helps them achieve the goals set with guidance from teachers and parents.  Most highly we regard striving for steady improvement, team support, and creating positive learning experiences for the athletes.

Below are listed various questions and issues that arise from being a member of the JGNW gymnastics team.  This list is not all inclusive and other issues may arise during the course of membership.  We will do our best do address all issues in a consistent manner with other policies and in line with what may be best for the team and athlete.  If you feel you may have extenuating circumstances that will arise during membership please discuss them before joining.

o   If your child is injured during practice and will miss an extended amount of time we may stop tuition during that time.  However, please be aware that most kids can do many things during practice that will not affect their specific injury.  We encourage them to attend when they can.

Drop Notification:  All JGNW Team members are required to give one month notice of drop from team in writing (email).   If notice is not given you will be billed until notice is received without refund.

Practice Schedule:   Please know that we have many kids on the team.  We understand that each individual family has their own issues with schedules and other family planned activities.  We consider as many possible things as we can when creating our schedule (i.e. other activities kids are involved in, school let out times,  dinner, amounts of homework, commutes, traffic, bed time, etc..)  We do not create schedules according to any one family or level of gymnast.  We do our best to make the schedule fair for all.  Please do your part to have your child attend practice when they are supposed to.  It is not fair to the other families that sacrifice on their end to add kids into classes that are not supposed to be there.  If you have extreme extenuating circumstances please give us plenty of advance notice to try and work with you to do the best not just for your child but all the children your change may affect!

Make up Policy:  Due to the amount of time team kids practice, their discounted tuition, and the specific things they do during practice there are not make up practices.  If the coaches feel they need additional practice to be prepared for competition due to multiple missed practices they will schedule that with you.

Early Drop off/ Late Pick up:  As JGNW Team members all children may use this service.  Children will be watched after when in gym care.  Please do not exceed 1 hour early or 1 hour late.  The gym is closed promptly at end of last class of the day.

Limited Watching Policy:  Please limit the amount of time you spend watching your child practice.  In the best interest in of the children’s learning and safety JGNW promotes limited interruption and more focus by the athlete by allowing them to concentrate on their teachers and the task at hand.

    Practice Attire:

    • All team members are required to wear a gymnastics leotard during practice
    • One day per week is designated for team members to wear their JGNW practice leotard.
    • Some day’s team members are not permitted to wear shorts during practice.
    • All team members must have their hair pulled up for practice.
    • Sports bra’s only are not allowed for practice.

Holiday Closures:  JGNW closes for all major holidays.  There are not make up classes for Holiday closures.

Competition Behavior:   Athlete’s and Parent’s representing JGNW at gymnastics competitions are urged to behave in the best manner to represent the club and themselves in a way to be respected by other gyms and families attending competitions.

    ·       Please make sure your child sleeps appropriately the night before the competition.

    ·       Please make sure your child eats a proper nutritious meal before arriving at competition.

o   Competition is approx. 4 hrs. long.  It is not in the best interest of the athlete to be needing to eat in the middle of competitions.

    ·       Please make sure your child shows up to competition in correct leotard, warm up suit, hair pulled back, nail polish removed, and one pair of stud earrings only.

    ·       Your child is expected to show good “good sportsmanship” during competition in all circumstances.  Please make sure your child understands the basics of “good sportsmanship” prior to competition.

    ·       Please do not interrupt your child during the competition.  JGNW staff will make sure your child is completely taken care of until after the competition concludes.

    ·       Please do not provide your child with electronic devices during the competition.  They will not be allowed to have them out on the competition floor.

    ·       Parents, please make an effort to sit as a group and where JGNW attire if available.

    ·       All families are encouraged to stay until after the conclusion of awards at each child’s individual level.  Please check with JGNW staff if you need to leave early for any reason.

Congratulations and best of luck to your child on becoming a competitive gymnast.  At JGNW we will strive to help the athletes become as successful as we can while encouraging them to love what they are doing.  Gymnastics is a tough and demanding sport for young children to endure.  We hope that all parents on JGNW’s team understand that not all kids will win or move up levels or get medals.  The individual achievements and lessons learned that last a lifetime are all bigger than those tangibles.   We are proud to have you and your child as part of our team!

    Thank you

    JGNW
