Jacob's Law Training Presented by Anika Robinson on
Thursday March 25th, Tuesday April 20th and Thursday May 20th.
ASA Now is proud to present an empowering and informative presentation: Jacob's Law (HB 2442). Come and learn everything you need to know about your rights as a foster, kinship, or adoptive parent. Whatever your role in caring for at-risk children – we’d like to invite you to attend.
Jacob’s Law (HB2442) provides required timelines to access behavioral and urgent health services, requires a placement packet, provides protections for caregivers, protects caregivers against allegations or charges from the Department of Child Safety due to their children's mental illness and provides Out-of-Home request timelines. Participants will also learn how to get involved to effectively advocate for vulnerable children and families, how to influence positive change and ensure their voice is heard.
Jacob’s Law provides required timelines to access behavioral and urgent health services: Rapid Response, Assessments, Service Appointments, Securing Out of County Services, Securing Services when service Request Timeline has Expired.
The passage of Jacob’s Law has resulted in an increased awareness of family and member rights and has improved access to behavioral health services. Attending educational sessions on Jacob’s Law assists attendees in learning to navigate the system, particularly for children/youth with high needs. Ongoing education about Jacob’s Law is critical for both families and any professionals who engage with children.
The presenter is a foster and adoptive mom who faced great burdens and barriers to care for her children who took on the cause of helping thousands of children and families throughout the state of Arizona and effectively helped pass Jacob’s Law.
Anika Robinson has a B.A. in Education from Ottawa University. She is a foster and adoptive parent to ten children who as a private citizen authored and helped pass Jacob’s Law.
