As part of the application process to become a Volunteer Seamstress we would like to invite you to complete a Trial Cherished Gown in our size Small. If you have any issues printing patterns, please let me know and I can arrange for a set to be posted out. The trial gown can be made from any material, but it is better to try to make this from satin or silk so that you can get a good idea of how the fabric should be used. We will email you the pattern and some more information to you - usually within 24 hours of your registration.
Cherished Gowns UK was set up to provide outfits for babies that pass away, their parents only get to dress them once. Our high standards are what stands Cherished Gowns apart from other organisations. We have a really good reputation of providing perfect items with consistent sizing so that we know that the service we are providing is the absolute best it can be at such an important time. We would argue there is no other clothing as special or important as a Cherished Gown and it is for this reason that we have this application process in place.
As much as we would love to be able to provide absolutely everything needed to support your volunteering unfortunately we are a small charity with limited resources. This means that it will your responsibility to provide all materials other than a wedding dress to work with (embellishments, ribbons, threads etc), and to also cover the cost of posting the finished items back to the charity. To ensure that all wedding dresses are transformed in a timely manner, any donated dress received must be completely transformed within 6 months of receiving them or returned to us. All donations and the completed items remain the property of Cherished Gowns UK.
