  • About

    London's Screen Archives Membership is open to qualifying organisations and offers a range of benefits. These include training, funding, networking and collaborative opportunities, advice and guidance. Also included are a number of discounted rates on services, which include film scanning, storage and licensing. Further details of member benefits can be found on the 'Membership' tab.

    We welcome applications from any organisation within the Greater London region that holds a moving image collection and has a related interest in enriching the cultural value of London's screen heritage, particularly through the provision of public access.

    Organisations must be formally constituted. Generally this means one of the following:

    • A Local Authority or statutory body;
    • A community interest company or a limited liability company registered at Companies House;
    • A charity or trust registered with the Charity Commission;
    • or a voluntary group with a written constitution and bank account.

     

    Private individuals are not eligible for this type of membership but can sign up as Friends of London’s Screen Archives.

    London's Screen Archives is managed by Film London. Proud to be supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the BFI, and The National Archives. If you have any questions regarding London's Screen Archives Membership or to find out whether your organisation qualifies, please email screenheritage@filmlondon.org.uk.

    Agreement

    To become a member, simply complete and submit this application form. Your application will be assessed by the London's Screen Archives team who will contact you by email within 10 working days. In some cases we may want to conduct an informal interview with prospective members to learn more about your organisation before approving membership.

    All joining members will need to sign a membership agreement, which will be sent to the primary contact's email address within 10 working days. Your organisation will not be invoiced until Film London is in receipt of a signed agreement.

  • Membership 

  • * Subscriptions fees will be paid annually in advance and membership
    rates will be subject to an annual review. Payment is currently by invoice only. If your organisation is using storage at London Metropolitan Archives, additional fees will be added to your invoice (calculation based on selected membership plan and shelving requried).

  •  **LSA will apply an administrative fee of 25% of licensing costs, with the remaining income split equally between Film London and the Member. All licensing carried out on behalf of Members will be reported monthly with any income generated paid to members on receipt of payment from the licensee.

  • By submitting this application for membership you agree to the following:

    Active commitment to the vision of London’s Screen Archives to preserve and share London’s history on film, and it’s mission to expand, understand and share London’s screen heritage with all, through the collaboration of a strong, connected and expert network.

    LSA’s priorities are to:

    • Strengthen the Network;         
    • Connect More People with Archive Film; 
    • Empower our Members;
    • Preserve and Celebrate Diverse Stories; and
    • Ensure a Sustainable Future.

    We expect our members to:

    • Participate in London’s Screen Archive activity with an open, professional, and sharing approach.
    • Keep regular and open lines of communication with the Film London and other LSA members, discussing opportunities and concerns relating to LSA as they arise.
    • Comply with statutory or voluntary laws, rules, regulations and guidelines applicable to the preservation, licensing and public, online exhibition and broadcast, of film.
    • Acknowledge and promote the support of Film London and London’s Screen Archives and its funders.
    • Allow Film London to use details of your activity supplied in the application to provide funders and stakeholders with updates on the size and make-up of our membership.
  • Data Protection (UK GDPR)

    Upon joining London's Screen Archives, you will be automatically added as a subscriber to the London's Screen Archives Newsletter (sent by Film London).

    Film London will keep all personal data supplied with your application securely. Stored information will be used for the administration of applications and services, and for communications regarding your London's Screen Archives membership. 

    Your personal data will not be shared with any third party without your prior written permission. 

    Occasionally Film London may also use the contact details you have supplied in this membership application to contact you directly about London's Screen Archives activities of direct relevance, including funding, training and networking activity.

  • In addition to the mailing list, from time to time, Film London would like to use the contact details you have supplied in the membership application (email, postal address and telephone number) to contact you directly about the following:

    • other news items, reports and publications of interest to collection holders;
    • opportunities to take part in research to help Film London and its funders better understand performance against its stated objectives or to learn more about the support needs of holders of screen heritage material;
    • and relevant Film London communications and events.
