Bee TrU to BeeComing Greater (BCG) is an outreach agency that has been active since October 31, 2013, dedicated to educating, elevating, and empowering communities about Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence and related crises. Its educational resources include recognizing signs of abuse, providing counseliing among other things.

The inaugural “Bee TrU Virtual Book Reading Night” took place on August 16, 2020. Since participants read for a total of 15 minutes and share details about their organizations/businesses to Bee TrU virtual nationwide audience before reading a child-friendly book at 7:30 PM Central Time on selected Sundays. 

HELPFUL INFORMATION

• Reader or Host: Invite family and friends to join you either by Zoom (details below) or Facebook: Bee TrU
• Reader or Host: Join zoom at least 5 to 10 minutes before 7:30pm CST (if you are a reader or host)
• Reader or Host: Find a location with little to no noise (bedroom, car, etc.) where you can sit for at least 15 minutes. 
• Reader, Host, or Viewer: Log onto ZOOM by copying & pasting the link (below) in a browser

• NOTE Your video might not show up on Facebook: Bee TrU until after your reading on Zoom is complete. Then, you can visit the FB page and copy and paste the link to your personal Facebook page for other to view.

I understand that my responsibilities as a host for a call are as follows:

1. I will use the username and password provided to join the Zoom meeting 5-10 minutes before 7:30 pm CST.

2. As attendees arrive on Zoom, I will admit them into the virtual space.

3. I will ensure that I ask each participant to mute their device, or I will mute the participants myself once the designated reader begins their session.

4. I will use a LAPTOP (must) to host (as this method will allow streaming to my Facebook page), and Bee TrU staff will then copy the link and share it to Bee TrU on Facebook.

5. Script that I will use when hosting:

"Hello world, I am (your name), the host of the Bee TrU Book Read. I want to thank you in advance for joining us.

Either...

A. I will read (book title)

OR

B. Our guest will read tonight who will  properly introducing themselves and state the book title.

6. When the reading is complete, the host will say...

Script:

Please visit Bee TrU on Facebook at Capital B, lowercase ee, Capital T, lowercase r, Capital U, and remember, being true starts with you. I'm buzzing off; hope to see you next time."

Part 5

To earn a community service hour...

-You’ll need to read twice (Example: back-to-back, such as the 1st and 3rd Sunday of January). Two reading equals one community service hour. 

-You must complete this form each time you read.

-After your second reading, a certificate will be emailed to you from beetrustopdv@gmail.com within two weeks of your last reading.

-Once issued, Bee TrU to BeeComing Greater (BCG), and its partner Guiding Light recommend storing the certificate in a safe place, as it will not be reissued.
