Basic Qualifications
*Must be full-time sworn officer for at least two years from a regular police department in any municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency provided they are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board. * An applicant shall be at least 21-years-old at time of application. * A high school diploma (or its equivalent) is required. * The applicant must be in good standing with the police department where they currently serve. * Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license and a valid State of Illinois FOID card, or the ability to get them if residing in another state. * An applicant must not have any felony convictions nor have been convicted of any serious misdemeanors. * An applicant must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements. * An applicant must reside within (45) miles of the City of Kewanee city limits within one year of hire. * An applicant must also be able to furnish, a copy of any documents requested by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, or background investigators. Documents include certified birth certificate, high school diploma, certified copy of college transcript, military records, etc.
