• Olney Cricket Club -Junior Membership Form

  • Image-8
  • This is the 2025 Junior Membership form for Olney Town Cricket Club. The form should be completed by the parent or legal guardian of any player under the age of 18 who wishes to become a member of Olney Town Cricket Club for the 2025 season and who is looking to play competition cricket. This includes persons under the age of 18 (on 1st May 2025) seeking to play adult cricket.

For children aged 12 and over (on 1st May 2025), this form should also be signed by the junior player themselves. This form should not be filled out for children under the age of 8 who are seeking to play only All Stars cricket. Further details on the availability of All Stars cricket this season has been communicated separately.

The relevant junior membership fee for 2025 is payable on joining and should accompany the form. For 2025, junior membership fees are £65. If you have one or more siblings to register then these will be charged at £55 each.

The junior membership fee entitles the junior to take part in all relevant coaching activities. It also entitles the parent or legal guardian to nominate two adults to become social members of Olney Town Cricket Club in 2025.

In addition to coaching and competitive matches during the season, the 2025 junior membership fee entitles each junior member to receive a junior playing shirt and a 150th Anniversary playing cap. Parents/guardians are asked to provide size information for their child/children by completing the relevant parts of the junior membership form. An age/size guide is provided below.

As membership forms are received, Olney Town Cricket Club will order playing shirts and caps for our juniors in batches. There is a lead time of around 10 days between order and delivery, so we encourage you to complete the junior membership form as soon as possible. This will ensure that your child/children has/ve their new playing shirt(s) and cap(s) at the start of the season.

Please note: It is possible that some of our junior age-groups become over-subscribed; where this happens, we will inform relevant parents and agree with them either:

    a) to “hold” their membership pending space becoming available in the relevant age group

    or

    b) to cancel their membership and return any monies paid across

  • Data Protection

Olney Town Cricket Club will use the information provided on this form, as well as other information it obtains about the junior member to which this form relates (together “Information”), to administer his/her cricketing activity with the Club, and in any activities in which he/she participates through the Club, and to care for and supervise activities in which he/she is involved whilst in the care of the Club.

In some cases, this may require Olney Town Cricket Club to disclose information to County Boards, leagues and to the ECB.

In the event of a medical or child safeguarding issue arising, Olney Town Cricket Club may be obliged to disclose certain information to doctors or other medical specialists and/or to the

police, children’s social care, the courts and/or probation officers, and potentially, to legal and other advisers involved in an investigation.

As the person completing this form, you must ensure each person whose information you include in this form knows what will happen to their information and how it may be disclosed.

  • Dear Parent,

Olney Town Cricket Club welcomes you. We hope that your child will enjoy being part of the Club and taking part in cricket coaching, training and matches. We also hope that they, and indeed, you, take full advantage of opportunities to participate in the social life the Club offers during the cricketing season.

You will see that each junior member can nominate two social members free of charge for the 2025 cricketing season. We hope you’re able to take up this offer.

The aim of this letter is to provide information that may be helpful to you now that you have a junior member of the Club in your family. Please do ask me – the Club’s Safeguarding Officer – or my deputy, Jo Bull, if you have other questions not answered in this letter.

Olney Town Cricket Club is run entirely by volunteers. We welcome offers of help from all members, and hope that, as you begin to feel part of the Club, you are able to get fully involved. Over the years, many parents have become “junior helpers” and provide invaluable assistance to our coaches during coaching sessions or matches. If this is of interest to you, then please feel free either to approach your age-group coach or the Club’s Junior Team Co-ordinator, Iain Keeping.

Olney Town Cricket Club adheres to England & Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) “Safe Hands” Policy for Safeguarding Children in cricket https://www.ecb.co.uk/about/policies/safeguarding/kit-bag-resources. The Club’s Safeguarding Policy can be found on our website (click here) along with other policies relevant to junior members (such as “Transporting Children”) in accordance with which the Club operates. You will note that, in completing the junior membership form, you are asked to confirm that you are familiar with the Club’s policies and are content with them.

A full list of Olney Town Cricket Club’s officers, committee members, captains, and coaches, with contact details, can be found on our Club’s website. Adults at the Club who work with children, and who meet the necessary criteria set by the ECB, are vetted by the ECB. This includes a DBS and ‘Barred List’ check. This is renewed on a yearly basis.

If you have a question regarding coaching, please approach the relevant age-group coach in the first instance. However, please do not interrupt coaching sessions, especially nets practice, as this may distract the coach when he or she needs to be supervising the children. Our coaches will be happy to speak to you before or after training, or at another convenient time.

If you have questions about kit requirements, training times, pick up arrangements etc please speak to either your age-group coach or the Club’s Junior Team Co-ordinator, Iain Keeping.

Whilst we hope your child will be happy and content at Olney Town Cricket Club, we understand that, sometimes, questions, concerns or difficulties may arise. Please feel able to raise these as soon as possible, so we can rectify things at the earliest opportunity.

If you have any concerns about your child or another child, or about the behaviour of any adult at Olney Town Cricket Club, please speak to me, the Club Safeguarding Officer, or my deputy, Jo Bull. Our details are on the Club’s website at https://olneytown.play-cricket.com and we can be e-mailed directly at OTCCsafeguarding@gmail.com.

If you have wider concerns about the Club’s approach to junior cricket, you may wish to contact the Bucks County Safeguarding Officer and discuss your concerns with them via e-mail at safeguarding@buckscricket.co.uk

Finally, all members, junior and adult, are reminded of Olney Town Cricket Club’s code of conduct for members and guests, which again can be found on our website at https://olneytown.play-cricket.com/docs.

We do hope that you and your child enjoy being a member of Olney Town Cricket Club. If you do have any questions or concerns, do please let me know.

    Yours faithfully

    James Paynter

    OTCC Safeguarding Officer
