Learn to garden organically through curiousity and respect!
Meetings:Team HUGS will meet at the garden on the following Thursdays from 5:30-7:30pm: June 10, 24, July 8, 22, Aug 5, 19. Each time we will have a topic of discussion, work in the garden and hear from an area vegetable or flower farmer, meat producer, naturalist, beekeeper or nutritionist.
Expectations: Youth are expected to come on their own at least once/week to observe/journal and work in the garden. They may choose to come on Wednesday or Sunday evenings when other garden volunteers are around or at any other time the garden is open. Youth will be encouraged to share ideas as to where food might be needed in their community and how to meet those needs. Only organic growing practices will be used.
Youth may help out during Fresh on Friday by assisting with the young Garden Explorers activities in the garden, harvesting and selling produce, packing produce for transfer to the food pantry or making bouquets with support from the Fresh on Friday bouquet crew. Service/volunteer hours may be available for these activities.
Youth may also participate in a Clear Lake Farmers Market at a Central Gardens flower and veggie booth.
Each active team member will receive a t-shirt and journal. Register below!
