Mentor Benefits

Eligibility Criteria (required)
- Be a member of CSTA and one of our communities: (you can join now!)
- Be a current or recent high school teacher
- If not current, must have taught in the classroom within the last five years
- Middle school teachers will also be considered
- Have four or more years experience teaching computer science
- Be willing and able to join:
- initial mentor training on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the CSTA Annual Conference in Cleveland, OH (CSTA will cover registration and travel expenses!) -- for new mentors only
- monthly, virtual community of practice meetings, scheduled on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30pm CT (August 2025 to June 2026)
Priority Selection Criteria (desired, not required)
- Experience supporting and/or providing professional development to other teachers
- Experience with effectively supporting students traditionally underrepresented in computing and expertise with inclusive teaching practices
Deadlines
- Priority Deadline: March 17
- Final Deadline (pending space availability): April 21
- Selection notifications will be sent out in April.
