JUSTISIGNS 2 - Empowering Victims of Gender-Based Violence through VET for Multiagency Actors is an Erasmus+ educational and training project created to improve access to support services in cases of Domestic and Sexual Gender-Based Violence (DSGBV) by increasing awareness and providing training to legal and support service providers who engage with victims. Research partners on the project are the Trinity College Dublin, University of Vigo (Spain), Heriot-Watt University (Scotland). We are working in partnership with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, the European Union of the Deaf, and An Garda Síochána. The project is chaired by Interesource Group (Ireland) Ltd.
The United Nations defines violence against women as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.”
The goal of the project is to increase awareness of potential language barriers and provide training and resources to interpreters who engage with victims.
The following questionnaire aims to identify the needs that may arise for interpreters when working in the context of DSGBV with victims who do not speak the national language(s) or who are deaf.
Topics covered by the questionnaire include:
A. Basic characteristics of interpreters
B. Interpreting for victims of DSGBV
C. Aspects related to communication with victims of DSGBV
D. Considerations concerning interpreting
The questionnaire should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
By submitting this questionnaire, you are confirming that you understand that all responses are anonymous and will only be accessed by researchers involved in the project with the purpose of using this data to inform the development of training materials and resources and in reporting on the results of the project (e.g. in academic papers/at conferences/reports to the European Commission).
By submitting the questionnaire, you agree to your responses being included in the data analysis, as per the above outline.
