    Executive Council Selection Process

At Spring Reunion, all present candidates will speak in front of the group, sharing what they wrote on their applications. Candidates who are unable to attend will have their answers read by an existing member of the Executive Council. While you are not required to be at reunion, nor will preference be given to individuals who are present, we do recommend that you make every effort to be present at Spring Reunion.

There will be an opportunity for those present to ask questions of the candidates. All candidates will be sequestered during the process and will not hear other's applications. Following speeches, there will be an election held for exec by the alumni in attendance at reunion. The President-Elect will be elected first, with each alumni choosing their preferred candidate. The candidate with the most votes will be elected. The President-Elect candidates that were not elected, if any, will be rolled into the Executive Council pool. The rest of the Executive Council members will then present their applications and voting will commence. Each alumni NOT RUNNING will chose their top eight candidates. The eight with the most votes will be elected to the executive council. Being a member of the executive council or previously serving on staff does not automatically give you preference.

If you are chosen to become a member of the Executive Council, each and every action you do can have an effect on how Nebraska Leadership Seminar is viewed by schools, guidance counselors, and potential students. Reports about inappropriate or illusive behavior received to the executive council are taken seriously, are deliberated and investigated, and can lead to a decision to not accept you. All decisions will be made in the best interest of the alumni association and all decisions are FINAL. We reserve the right to pull your application at any point or if inappropriate or illusive behavior reports are received, even after you are selected. Please be cognizant that you are held to a higher standard if selected. NLS does everything possible to build an inclusive, safe, and brave environment for our delegates, and this begins with you.

If you are applying to this position, remember that you are making a commitment for a year. Do not apply if you are not ready to commit to the position as we want dedicated members only.

Considerations include leadership development, personal growth, behavior and actions at NLS and non-NLS functions, and your involvement. Anything under your name on a public internet domain can be taken into consideration during the application process (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.) because you represent NLS in everything you do. Your application can be pulled at any time.

Again, if you have any questions, Please contact us at alumni@nebraskaleadership.org.
