Current College Student Scholarship Application 2020-2021
***COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to public & private educational institutions closing early because of COVID-19 BSC will accept for application purposes unofficial or incomplete transcripts & previous Letters of Recommendations. BSC will also waive ACT/SAT scores (if required) if the student had not yet taken them. However official transcripts will be required before funds can be dispersed to educational institutions. Please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.*** The Barksdale Spouses’ Club (BSC) has established a scholarship program in an effort to assist military families with the financial challenges associated with pursuing a college education. This program hopes to encourage and assist military spouses and children in the Barksdale Air Force Base community who are working toward their educational goals. Individuals who are dependents of a U.S. Armed Forces member (active duty, guard, and/or reserve), currently assigned to Barksdale Air Force Base, including dependents of retired and/or deceased U.S. Armed Forces members are all encouraged to apply. Scholarships are awarded in three categories: Non-active Duty Military Spouses, dependent children entering college for the first time as high school graduates, and dependent children currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. The scholarship award may be used for tuition, fees, and/or books. Funds may not be used for school room, board, rent or paying on educational loans. Selection is based upon completion of the scholarship application, academic performance, extracurricular activities, and three essay questions. The scholarships are funded by proceeds generated through the philanthropic activities of the BSC. The Scholarship Committee will appoint a panel of independent judges not affiliated with the BSC.
