ASA Now is proud to present an empowering and informative presentation: Trauma Tools Workshop - This workshop is part of our caregiver series intended to build up families and equip caregivers to interact authentically and effectively with at-risk children and practice self-care in a safe and loving space.
Description:
Come learn powerful tools and techniques to help you recognize, better understand and meet the needs of the children and teens in your care who have experienced physical, mental and emotional trauma. With a safe online space to bring your questions and share your challenges, this will be a collaborative group.
Kinship, Foster and adoptive caregivers are critical to helping children heal from trauma and thrive. These training tools will provide practical implementation tips, tools and skills to more easily identify triggers and learn how to avoid them.
Caregivers will learn skills such as de-escalating difficult behavior, helping a child regroup after a meltdown and recognizing when a child is being reminded of a traumatic experience.
The presenter who has over 10yrs experience working with at-risk youth at a Residential Treatment Center (RTC). This experience helped her learn first hand the struggles that come with caring for traumatized children and uses practical tools to help caregivers gain the tools needed to heal and impact the life of the children they care for. She is passionate about community outreach and dedicates towards supporting Arizona’s foster and adoptive children community and their families.
Presenter Bio:
Estefana Johnson is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), serves as the Clinical Director and Advisory Board Member for ASA Now. Estefana has experience in treating multiple mental health conditions including complex adult and childhood trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.
In 2016, she became Arizona’s first trained Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) practitioner, and more recently, she has become a national spokesperson of A.R.T. providing national training to other therapists, psychologists, practitioners, and psychiatrists.
She is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Wednesday May 12th 7 pm to 8 pm
Cost:
There is a $10 optional workshop fee per attendee for services rendered. Payment received will go directly to help offset the operation and maintenance cost of Jacob's Mission Community Center.
- A 1 hour certificate of participation will be provided.
This training is for Kinship Caregivers, Licensed Foster Caregivers, Foster/Adoptive Caregivers, Guardianship Caregivers for children who previously were or are under the custody of Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS).
