- Parents of first-born children are required to attend our Pre-Baptism Course.
- Baptisms usually take place immediately after the Saturday morning Mass at 10:30am.
- Godparents have to be Roman Catholic Christians over 16 years of age who are Confirmed and attend Mass. There can only be two Godparents. You may choose someone from another Christian denomination to act as a Christian Witness instead of a Godparent but there must be at least one Catholic Godparent. A Godparent cannot be a sibling or parent.
- It is customary for parents to make a donation to the Church. The amount is to be decided by each family and varies according to one's financial circumstances.
- During the Baptism Ceremony you will be given a Certificate of your child's Baptism. Please make sure that you keep hold of this. You will need this for sacramental and school applications in the future!
- Due to the high demand for Baptisms within our Parish it is usual practice that more than one family's child is Baptised at the same ceremony. The number of families at a ceremony depends upon the need for Baptism at that particular time. It is not possible to know how many families will be in attendance on a particular day until closer to the ceremony itself.

- No other certificate is acceptable; e.g. Marriage Certificate, and a photograph of your Baptism is also unacceptable.

- For your child to be Baptised they must have at least one Godparent.
- A Godparent must be a Baptised, Confirmed and practising Roman Catholic.
- Those who profess the Christian faith can witness the Baptism; stand and profess the Christian faith alongside the Godparent(s) but only the Godparents will be recorded in our register and on the certificate. These are known as Christian Witnesses.
