From the Native American era before the arrival of Dutch colonists through to the modern era, New York has been an extremely important spot in terms of local -- and national -- politics. This tour begins in the era before Henry Hudson's 1609 voyage and looks at how Dutch and English politics shaped the city. We'll look at the original Stadt Huis ("City Hall"), the original British City Hall, Federal Hall National Memorial and much more as we stroll through Lower Manhattan and across the Brooklyn Bridge to downtown Brooklyn. This tour mixes history, architecture, and some of the lesser-known places and faces that you might walk by every day but never notice.
