Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Winchester West Highlands, but it does not guarantee you'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.
APPROVAL AND HOLDING FEE: We will review applications, applications are processed in the order they are received. If your home is a good fit, we'll notify you. We breed infrequently, during pregnancy, approved homes will receive info that a puppy could be on the way. Once we know we have a puppy of the sex you want we will confirm the timing works for your family.
MATCHING PUPPIES: We want our puppies to be matched with the best homes possible and will work with you to make sure you get the puppy that will be the best fit with your family. This will occur at 7-8 weeks old. We use Puppy Culture & will match a puppy to your family based on your goals & the puppies personality. Should you not be 100% excited about your puppy we ask that you decline the placement.
GOING HOME: We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. If you have a big vacation planned or have events that would conflict with a young puppy, please know puppies cannot be boarded in a kennel until they have received their full immunizations and their rabies vaccination which cannot be done until 3 months of age. We do NOT ship puppies.
CONTRACT: We have a contract and will not place a puppy without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later, and for that reason it's a bit lengthy. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy.
SPAY/NEUTER: We require spay/neuter only once the puppy is fully grown at one year. We feel the sex hormones are critical to proper bone an ligament development and doing so earlier will void our Health Guarentee.
REGISTRATION PAPERS: Limited registration papers will be provided once spay/neuter is confirmed by your Veterinarian.
IF THINGS DON'T WORK OUT: We have a take-back provision in our contract. Any puppy from our home always has a home here, and will never experience the fear and burden of life at a shelter. We should ALWAYS be your first phone call should you decide you can no longer keep your Westie from Winchester West Highlands. All returns will be handled on a case by case basis.
