The 1st Annual Cy King Summer Classic will be held over two weekends this summer in honor of Cy King, Raleigh tennis legend and NC Tennis Hall of Famer, at Millbrook Tennis Center and North Hills Club.
The event will encompass three tournaments - an adult doubles and mixed tournament the first weekend (May 29 - 30), and both a junior challenger L6 (June 5 - 6) and a pro-am fundraiser (June 4) the second weekend.
King of the Court Pro-Am | Friday, June 4 at 5:30 PM at North Hills Club
The King of the Court Pro-Am fundraiser will be held the evening of Friday, June 4, and all proceeds will be used to fund the Cy King Community Tennis Fund. All pros will play free of charge and will be assigned an amateur partner.
The tournament will be broken down into 4 flights, based upon the NTRP of Pro-Am teams. Each bracket will play a round-robin to determine who will make it to the finals of their flight. The top two teams from each flight will play each other in a super tiebreaker to determine the winner of their flight.
Tournament Check-In | 5:30 PM
Check-in, t-shirt pick-up, and court assignments.
Round Robin Play & Dinner | 6:00 - 8:00 PM
The format of the tournament will consist of one no-ad set per match with 6 games TOTAL. A tiebreaker will be played if the teams are at 2-2. On the deuce point, Pros must serve to Pros and Ams must serve to Ams. Amateur players must serve first for each match. Following each set, players must report the game score to the Tournament Desk. The top two teams with the highest game total will advance to the finals of their flight.
In the event of a tie (based upon game total), the team that won the head-to-head during round-robin play will advance to the finals.
During round-robin play, guests and players waiting to play their matches, can enjoy a buffet dinner and beverages (at no charge for all players). Guests are invited to attend to watch the matches and enjoy dinner and drinks for $25.
Finals | 8:30 PM
For the finals, the top two teams of each flight will play a 10-point Super Tiebreaker in order to determine the winners of the tournament.
