Please read, understand and sign the following:
Spray tanning is accomplished by application of a solution containing the active ingredient DHA (Dihydroxyacetone). DHA is considered to be safe and has been FDA approved ONLY if you follow guidelines to protect mucous membranes. The FDA advises asking the following questions when considering the application of DHA products by spraying or misting.
* Are you protected from exposure in the entire area of the eyes, in addition to the eyes themselves? (Safety glasses or protective eye stickers are available upon request)
*Are you protected from exposure on the lips and all parts of the body covered by mucous membrane? (Lip balm or disposable spa garments are available upon request)
* Are you protected from internal exposure caused by inhaling or ingesting the product? (Ventilation is used as needed and nose filters or surgical masks are available upon request)
If the answer to any of these questions is “no”, you are not protected from the unapproved use of DHA. You should request measures to protect your eyes and mucous membranes and prevent inhalation.
What to expect: You will enter a private room where you will remove your clothing. This is up to you and your level of comfort. You should wear a snug dark swimsuit or underwear. Disposable spa undergarments are available upon request. The tanning solution contains color that may transfer to clothing, furniture or car seats. Washing or dry-cleaning will sometimes, but not always, remove the color. We suggest bringing a towel to cover your car seat and tanning in an old bathing suit or undergarment if you choose to wear one. We are not responsible for potential stains to clothing or upholstery.
Next, you will be sprayed. This process will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes. During the tanning process your tanning professional may have to touch your body to properly position you for application and to remove excess product. You will be advised of any contact before it occurs.
After your tanning session, wait at least 8 hours for overnight solution or 2-5 hours for rapid solution before showering, bathing, swimming or exercising. After spraying, your skin should be dry before putting your clothes back on and drying powder will be applied to aid in this process. The solution will give you an immediate bronzing effect. The bronzing effect is a result of a temporary coloring additive in the solution that will remain on the skin until you rinse. This color is only temporary and WILL WASH OFF during the first shower. DHA is a clear ingredient and can take up to 24-hours to fully develop.
After showering, apply a moisturizer. It is very important to keep your skin moisturized - this is the most important thing you can do to help extend the life of your spray tan. Do not use moisturizers that contain glycolic acid or alpha hydroxyl as they speed up the skin exfoliation and cause the tan to fade prematurely.
All people, all skin, is different. All ingredients used in this procedure are intended for cosmetic use and are generally regarded as safe. If you have sensitive skin or allergies to sunless tanning products containing DHA, or if you are unsure whether you may be allergic to DHA, we suggest consulting your physician prior to tanning. Allergic reactions such as a minor skin rash are extremely rare and can usually be alleviated by a simple shower. If you have never used a sunless tanning product, we suggest a patch test 24 hours before the full body application.
Be advised there is a small percentage of people whose skin may not react favorably to spray tanning. For this reason, we do NOT advise being sprayed for the first time when your appearance is critical; (weddings, special occasions, prom). Please schedule a practice session 30 days before your event for best results.
Common sense caution – pregnant or nursing women should consult their physician, and obtain a written release before using. Spray tanning is not normally contraindicated, when a mask or nose filters are used but each pregnancy is different. Your medical care provider may prefer a more cautious approach based on your specific needs and health concerns.
Warning – this product does not contain a sunscreen and does not protect against sunburn. Repeated exposure of unprotected skin to UV light may increase the risk of skin aging, skin cancer and other harmful effects to the skin even if you do not burn.
It is important to follow written and verbal instructions provided by your tanning technician. Failure to do so may adversely affect your tanning results.
The duration of your tan is based on many factors such as skin condition, exfoliation rate, lifestyle, etc. We have no control over these factors and make no claims with regard to duration. Maintaining your sunless tan requires regular proper care. Consult your tanning professional for tips, aftercare instructions and products to maximize your sunless tanning results.
