About Psychotherapy: Psychotherapy requires a joint effort. Progress depends on many factors including motivation, effort and other life circumstances such as interactions with family, friends and others. The length of treatment varies depending upon the nature and severity of the problems, along with previously mentioned factors. While therapy is designed to be helpful, it may at times be difficult and uncomfortable.
Payment of Services: We agree upon a fee at our first consultation. Payment is due at the time of each session. Debit or credit cards are stored for all clients in order to pay session fees or co-pays. You are welcome to pay with Zelle or Paypal if you prefer.
Cancellations: Once we agree upon a regular time or times to meet during the week I will reserve those hours for you. I will give you advance notice of vacations or other planned absences.
Because the success of therapy depends on the regularity and continuity of our meetings, the expectation is that we meet regularly at the time that we decide upon together. Nevertheless, it is understandable that on occasion it may be necessary to cancel or reschedule the hour. If you need to reschedule or cancel a session please let me know as soon as possible, and I will attempt to reschedule your session for a mutually convenient time within the week of your appointment. I will also attempt to schedule another patient during the regular session which you are unable to attend. I cannot guarantee either of these options will happen. If I am unable to fill your hour or reschedule with you, you will be charged for that session. As I cannot bill insurance companies for missed sessions, please note that clients using insurance will be billed the cost of the session.
Please make all checks out to Dr. Avvy Mar.
Insurance: I am an in-network provider for Pacific Source and Adventist at this time. I will alert you when that changes. If you have a different insurance company, and if you request, I will provide you with a receipt for services, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Your insurance company or human resources department can let you know if they provide reimbursement for out of network providers.
Crisis: If you feel you are in crisis, please contact the Multnomah Crisis Line at (503) 988-4888, call 911, go to your nearest Emergency Room. For non-crisis issues that arise during my absence, another therapist will provide coverage while I am away. You can get that person’s name and number by calling my voicemail during any breaks. If you need to cancel an appointment, I will make every effort to reschedule you.
Confidentiality: Anyone who seeks psychotherapy has a basic right to privacy. All consultations and records are therefore confidential. I will not normally advise anyone of your participation in therapy unless you specifically request, in writing, that I do so.
Under certain circumstances, however, the law permits me to disclose information:
