• BHS Read to the Animals Program

  • Here’s how our Read to the Animals program works:

You can read any day, Tuesdays-Sundays 12-5pm and Mondays 12-2:30pm. However, weekdays are better than weekends because it can get quite busy on the weekends and be uncomfortable to read aloud. But if weekends are all you can do, that's fine. We need an adult to stay with your child and you to bring your own reading material. The first time we'll ask you to sign a waiver. It's very flexible. You can stay as short or long as your child likes. They'll be given a chair to sit down and read in front of the animal type of your choice—dog, cat, rabbit, small animal. The dogs may be a bit intimidating in the kennel. When the weather warms up it's nice to read to them outside.

Just let us know what day/time you want to come in and we'll put you on the calendar. You can sign up one day at a time or for a series of times. it's up to you. We need your child’s full name, age, your email and best phone number, preferably your cell phone.
