**Due to an overwhelming response, we will be running another workshop on Saturday 5th June 2021**
Do you have a much loved pet that you would like to capture in a painting?
The School of Creative Arts and Media at the University of Tasmania, in partnership with Rosny Farm Arts Centre, are offering a free hands-on workshop in pet portraiture. This workshop will guide you through the process of creating a portrait of your much loved pet.
The workshop will introduce you to techniques of pet portraiture from start to finish and will include translating a preliminary drawing into a charismatic pet portrait in paint.
No experience is necessary other than an appetite for creative expression and a willingness to share stories of the special relationship that you have with your pet.
Date: Saturday 5th June 2021
Time: 10am – 4pm
Location: School of Art, Hunter Street, University of Tasmania
Free workshop—No prior skills necessary and all materials supplied
BYO lunch and drink bottle; light refreshments provided
Please bring a printed photograph of your pet
Why are we offering a free workshop?
The School of Creative Arts & Media have developed a project called The Pet Project. We are interested in how we might better understand our relationships with pets during and after the Covid-19 pandemic in Tasmania. As part of this workshop, we will be asking you questions about your pets. The study is affiliated with the University of Tasmania’s The Tasmania Project, a platform that gives you a voice and to gather important information during and beyond the pandemic.
To participate, you will need to be over 18 and be willing to be video interviewed during the workshop.
To express your interest in this free event, please fill out the following form by 5pm Monday 31st May 2021.
Please note: Priority will be given to participants who have not done a previous workshop. There are no costs associated with participation in this workshop nor will registered participants be paid.
