Project Overview

International House presents The Journey: Art Competition and Exhibit. We are inviting immigrant artists to submit an art piece that represents their journey to the United States, allowing the community to see their story and take a walk in their shoes.
The Competition

Ten of the artists will be chosen by a community committee to participate in an exhibition. The contest and exhibition will end in September. The winning artist of this exhibition and competition will receive a stipend and their artwork will be showcased in International House's hallway as well as on their 2023 annual report and event marketing materials.
Artist Eligibility

Artist must be over 18 years of age, a resident of Mecklenburg County, and have as the content and purpose of the their art the story behind their own journey as an immigrant. Artists must create a written narrative that enhances the visual artwork. Only individual artists, no collaborative projects may apply.
