No child will be left unattended indoors or outdoors at any time. Only a parent/guardian or an individual who is on the pickup permission slip may check out campers. Picture identification is required at the time of pick up if it is a person different than the parent/guardian listed.
DROP-OFF and PICK-UP
Parents are to come to the door for pick up and drop off to sign their child(ren) in and out. If someone on your pick-up list will be picking up your child, they will be asked to show picture identification. BYOB(reakfast) is from 8:30 am - 9:00 am. There will be NO drop offs after 9:30 am except in the case of an extenuating circumstance (i.e. car trouble, traffic jam due to accident or other road hazzard). If a camper is dropped off after 9:30am, there is no guarantee that there will be time for them to eat their BYOB. Please be timely.
Late Pick Up Policy – All Summer Reading Boost! attendees should be picked up by 1:15 pm. Parents, who are late due to unforeseen circumstances (please call), will be issued a verbal warning. To avoid situations like these, we encourage parents to have a backup plan that would allow their child/ren (with prior approval) to go home with a neighboring parent or a relative/friend listed as authorized to pick up your child from the facility.
The following procedure will be used for parents who violate the pick-up policy.
First Offense – Late charge of $1.00 per child per minute beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Second Offense – Grounds for one-day, non-refundable suspension from program.
Third Offense- Grounds for non-refundable dismissal from program.
Late charges are due on the day which the infraction occurs. Non-payment of late charges may result in suspension of the child/ren from the program. We ask parents to be respectful and courteous regarding this policy.
If a child is left and we have not heard from a parent, or if a parent cannot be reached and no one is available to pick up your child, the DHS office will be asked to come and transport that child to a safe location.
ABSENCES
If your child is going to be absent from camp for the day, please call or text (901) 590-9189 or bring a note the day before. You may also email studentsuccess@gilmerslearningsolutions.com.
MEDICATIONS
Medications should be administered at home prior to arrival at Summer Reading Boost!. In the event that this cannot be done, any medication to be administered must be in a prescription-labeled bottle stating the type of medication, frequency of dosage and amount to be given. A medication form must be on file. No exceptions will be made to this rule. It is in the best interest of your child to have any medications properly administered.
SICK CHILD
At Gilmer's Learning Solutions, LLC's Summer Reading Boost!, medical services are minimal. We stock only first aid medical supplies. If a sick child arrives at camp, we will assume the illness began at home and will not allow the child to attend until they have been symptom free without medication for 24 hours. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR SICK CHILD TO CAMP. This is inconsiderate and can spread infection throughout the facility. We have no facilities in the camp in which to keep a sick child. We should be able to contact you at home or at the alternate telephone number listed on your child’s registration for you to come and take the child home. Children who come to camp with dressings are encouraged to have them changed at home. Please inform us by note if the dressing must be changed.
GILMER'S LEARNING SOLUTIONS, LLC DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR SUMMER READING BOOST! PARTICIPANTS. INSURANCE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENTS. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE, WE STRONGLY SUGGESTS YOU OBTAIN IT PRIOR TO CAMP.
CONCERNS
Any concerns or comments should be addressed with the Program Director.
LUNCH & SNACKS
Campers will be provided a mid-morning snack and a take-home lunch every day at camp. If your child decides to bring his/her own lunch and snacks, both should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.
