Port Macquarie Players Theatre are seeking a cast for the upcoming production of Are You Being Served?
All the memorable characters from the long-running TV series will be seen not only in their familiar environment of the Grace Brothers Department Store, but also on holiday at a one-star hotel in Spain.
Mrs Slocombe, Mr Humphries, Miss Brahms, Captain Peacock and the others will face problems and solve them in ways that only they can conceive causing great hilarity in the process.
SHOW DATES
- 16th July to 1st August 2021
- The season run is 9 shows over three weekends
- Friday and Saturday, 8pm
- Sunday, 2pm
REHEARSAL DAYS AND TIMES
- Mon & Wed nights until week commencing 11.05.21 then Tues & Thurs nights
- Rehearsals will commence Monday 12th April from 7pm to 10pm
- Sunday rehearsals will be required, however will be discussed with the successful cast regarding timings.

ROLE INFORMATION
Each character description will contain line counts for each act, background of the character, his or her temperament and foibles.
There are 16 roles, some major, some minor and some parts with only a few lines. ALL are important to maintain the comedic flow

ENGLISH VOICE CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED: Polished and Regional - We are looking for a mix to enhance comedic value in the show.
MULTIPLE CHARACTERS
- If you wish to audition for 2 or more characters you are required to complete this registration form for EACH character.
- This means you will be auditioning for each character in a different time slot.
ARE THERE ANY FEES?
- If you are successfully cast, you are required to join The Players Theatre Inc. as a member (if not already a member)
- This can be done via our website at playerstheatre.org.au
- Existing membership is not a requirement to audition.

AUDITION DATES & TIMES
- Saturday, 10th April 2021 from 9am
- Bookings will go live on our website playerstheatre.org.au from Sunday, 28th March
- Booking timeslots will be 10 minutes per character
YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR INTENTION TO AUDITION LATER IN THIS FORM
Please do not "just show up" on the day
WHAT IS NEEDED TO AUDITION?
- A pre-selected text will be made available from Sunday, 28th March for you to learn
- Download from our website at playersthetare.org.au
On audition day you may be asked to recite the prose in different ways. We encourage you to commit the text to memory as much as possible.
BE ADVISED
- ACT one lines down: 13th May
- ACT two lines down: 10th June
Successful cast will be required to commit to contributing a bio for the show program, assistance with poster distribution and sharing of social media content to promote the production. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you at auditions!
CONFIRMATION
