The artist residency is an opportunity that encourages emerging to mid-career artists whose interests are situated in the social practice of art making and developing projects around community activism and impact. The Residency opens space for artists to capture the immediacy of the moment and to glean respective visions for future residents, developers and visionaries.
The South Dallas Cultural Center is accepting qualifications from artists whose vocation concerns community-based activism as a means for their social practice or community engagement for a site-based or site-responsive project. The project-based work would seek to ignite the collective imagination of the South Dallas area residents by way of elevating community pride and complimenting revitalization through a creative approach.
- Submissions must reflect the quality expectations and standards of the South Dallas Cultural Center.
- Emerging and mid-career artists, creative practitioners, researchers and writers demonstrating a commitment to the creative process, with consideration of all creative disciplines.
- Applicants must reside in the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and are over the age of 18.
