Tuition and Payment Plan Policies
The total tuition for the school year is divided into four or eight equal payments. Each payment does not cover the tuition for the payment period; rather, it is 1/4 or 1/8 of the total tuition based upon the payment plan.
There is a 15-day grace period after each scheduled due date. Payments received after the grace period will be automatically assessed a $25.00 late fee. Changes to payment plan will be assessed a $25.00 fee.
For families who have more than one family member enrolled in lessons for the entire academic year, a tuition discount will be given. A 5% discount will be given for the second member and a 10% discount for any additional family members. The discount will be assessed upon the lowest value tuition and is not applicable to any fees. Accounts must remain current to retain a family discount.
There will be a $25.00 fee for a returned check.
I understand that I am financially responsible for tuition costs and fees while attending The New School for Music Study. I shall be liable for any and all costs of collection, including an additional 33.33% fee if my account is forwarded to a collection agency for collection. I further understand that there shall be an additional 1.5% interest charged monthly on any balance past 30 days outstanding. In addition, I further understand that I will also be responsible for paying any reasonable attorney's fees, plus court costs.
Tuition must be paid in full for student participation in the Spring Recitals.

8-Payment Plan Due Dates:

Make-Up Lesson Policy
There are no refunds or credits for lessons not taken during the term. However, we will guarantee a make-up for one missed private lesson per year. A twenty-four hour notice is required for any cause except illness. If a student cannot attend a scheduled make-up, it cannot be rescheduled. If it is necessary for a teacher to cancel a lesson, or if the school closes because of inclement weather, a make-up lesson will be scheduled. Group lessons missed by students cannot be made up under any circumstances. Teachers may provide a swap list to families. Some faculty may offer an online lesson in the case of inclement weather or illness. Families are encouraged to take advantage of these options.
Withdrawal and Program Change Policy
Registration is for the entire 10-month school year, September through June. If a student must withdraw before the end of the school year, a four-week notice is required, and tuition will be assessed through the notice period. All withdrawals must be submitted in writing to the school’s administration.
Program changes are considered on a case-by-case basis by the school’s administration, and any resultant changes in tuition will be prorated across the remaining tuition payments. A $50.00 change fee will be assessed for all mid-year parent/student initiated program changes.
No withdrawals or program changes will be accepted after April 1.
