A creative, innovative and hands-on program that will provide a safe space for young people to voice their concerns, share their opinions and acquire knowledge about healthy living through rhythm and movements. The program draws from African traditional aesthetic to urban influence as tools, this project will capture and redirect the attention of youth away from the culture of silence surrounding the unhealthy lifestyle being adopted by many of neighbourhood youth of today. Students will be engaged in movement and rhythm workshops as a form of physical education and social skill development. They will learn about the different forms of creating rhythms and movements from African Traditional form to Urban hybrid style. The program consists of 4 sessions workshops and 5th session a presentation/performance (all via Zoom).

Students will get the opportunity to work together, engage in collaboration, share and implement their ideas, create rhythms, organize movements routines, and discover that they can make significant contributions to their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their peers.
Improve their communication skills, become effective team players, strengthen their time management skills, acquire problem-solving skills and further enhance their leadership skills. Most importantly, they will become more aware of the importance of social skills through rhythm and movement.
