SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Note: Submission does not guarantee publication. All submissions of articles, news items, and resources are subject to review by the Perspectives editorial team and, as needed, the relevant advisory committee.
Conflicts of Interest and Bias
Authors must fill out the Conflict of Interest and Bias section of this online submission form. All submissions to Perspectives must be free of bias. Discriminatory or inflammatory submissions will not be considered for publication.
The Perspectives editorial team uses the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s definitions of conflict of interest and commercial interest organizations, which can be found here.
Format and References
Submissions to Perspectives must follow the 7th edition APA citation and style guide. APA citation guidelines can be found here and paper format guidelines here.
Submissions of any kind except “Community Announcements” and “Honors and Memorials” must include a list of references at the end of the document. This list must follow APA guidelines and be presented in alphabetical order. If listing an electronic source, please provide the exact URL of the content, rather than the web address of the overall site.
Use references and citations to document your ideas and credit your sources. Authors are responsible for accuracy in citation and interpretation of material resources. Reference material should be recent (within 5 years) and up-to-date (latest book editions), unless referring to a timeless classic or in the case that recent, up-to-date resources are not available for the topic in question.
Plagiarism in submissions will result in automatic rejection of the submission.
Images
Photos and illustrations will be used at the discretion of the editorial team and production editor. You may only submit images for which you own the copyright.
Please place each illustration, figure, chart, photograph, etc. on a separate page of the submitted manuscript following the reference list and label each item as it is referred to in the text (for example, “Figure 1: [title of figure]”). Please also provide a caption for each image submitted. Cite images consecutively in the text of the manuscript, and number them in the order in which they are shown or discussed.
You must include the name of the photographer (in the case of photos) or artist (in the case of illustrations) and any persons depicted in photographs.
When submitting through the online submission form, please upload a copy of each illustration, figure, or photograph in the provided upload box. Title these files with the following format:
[author’s surname] - [Figure 1] - [title of figure]
Acceptable file formats for images are: JPG, PNG, TIFF, GIF. Images must have a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch).
