• Storytwigs Interactive Story Pitch

    Pitch us your interactive story!
  • About the pitch process

We are looking to feature interactive fiction from a variety of perspectives. No previous interactive experience is necessary.

Please fill out this form to send in your pitch. We will get back to you within a week or two (we respond to every submission)—after that, feel free to reach out to see if we received everything correctly. We ask that you send no more than three pitches at a time before hearing back from us.

We currently do not have the ability to pay writers who are featured on Storytwigs, but we will not put ads inside your stories or place them behind a paywall, and you retain full rights to the stories we host on our site. We hope to pay writers in the future and are working on securing funding for writers.

You will own your work, and you are free to host or publish it elsewhere—though by completing work with us you grant us the right to host and display the work on storytwigs.com and on our promotional materials (with credit to you and anyone else who worked on the project).

If selected we will coach you through the process and create the interactive story with you as the head writer. We will help come up with the interactivite concept and map and work though each scene/passage and ensure that each choice is meaningful. We reserve the right to refuse to publish any work that we feel does not meet our standards, even if a pitch was selected.

Once the story is set, we will place the text in a full interactive story format with design elements, working links, etc., and we will host it on storytwigs.com.

We are looking for fiction that is around 1000-5000 words long. Remember, since the story is nonlinear, the actual part the player reads will be shorter, since there will be unseen paths on each play through (scenes from choices that weren’t selected). Your piece doesn’t need to be anywhere near complete to pitch it to us—we just need an idea and the info we ask for below.

We recommend that you read our pitching process guide for more info..

If you have an idea for a pitch that you want to discuss, or you have something that you think is great but doesn't fit something we've mentioned here, left us know!

If you have questions, suggestions, comments, concerns, or compliments, please reach out to storytwigs@gmail.com

  • Let's get your basic info

  • And let's get some info on your storytelling experience

Please do your best to represent yourself well, but don't stress about this. You do not need to upload tons of pieces or revamp your resume for us—just submit whatever you think will help us get to know you best. If you have a writing website that you're proud of, that'll be just fine. If you have pitched us before, no need to submit this information again unless something has changed or you'd like to direct us to different work.

  • Here is an example scene and choice. This isn't to demonstrate the writing style or voice we are looking for, it's just to give you a sense of length/scope and how you can format your choices. Pick a moment in your story surrounding a choice, set up the stakes, and show us the options you might take as a character (2 or 3 choices preferred).

Alright, it's been like 30 minutes—where did this guy go? When he asked you to watch his stuff, you assumed he was going to the bathroom, but then he bolted out the front of the cafe. Didn't even take his phone. Now you're gonna be late for your date with Sam.

You go over to see if there any clues at his table. All that's there is a phone, computer, empty mug, and half a scone. A hesitant tap of the spacebar wakes up his laptop to reveal a Google maps search for Bank of America. It's a 6 minute walk away. Hmm.

It's a bit out of the way, but if you left now you could probably run over there and only be about 15 minutes late to brunch. If he's there.

CHOICE 1: Grab his stuff and run to the bank
CHOICE 2: Wait a bit longer, he's gotta be back soon—right?
CHOICE 3: Keep snooping through his laptop
