HI! I'm Shelley!
I live in sunny Phoenix Arizona with my 2 teen kiddos, 2 dogs, a bird and a tortoise. ;) I'm a busy entreprenuer working single mama and a believer and follower of Jesus, and therefore never am I alone or single. He is always with me and also inspires me in my fitness journey to have the healthiest body, mind and spirit that I can, so I can live out my purpose here on earth.
My PASSION is to help others discover and achieve a healthy fit lifestyle (mind, body, spirit, mindset) so you too can live the most healthy, energized, joy filled, passionate and empowered life that you can. And if you have children to pass all of it down to them. And to pass it on to others.
I'm also 48! I started my fitness journey only at the young age of 40. I knew nothing about health and fitness. But I had terrible depression and anxiety and didn't know where to turn. I prayed for answers and direction. I found a girl online doing a fitness program and a fitness community and it sounded like something I needed, although I was nervous - I did it with fear of the unknown and excitement for a new process and path anyways.
I had heard fitness gave you the "happy endorphins" so I was all about learning more about it.
Only thing was, I had never been a workout person. I maybe worked out 5 days ever in my life. I was in a rut of bad health habits, being a mom to young toddlers was hard and tiring with a child who litearlly never napped and was a morning person and a night owl - I was a walking zombie LOL, I had a troubled marriage, I was unemployed and just down right sad, mad and depressed. I was stuck to say the least, and looking and praying for a solution.
I started working out just a few days per week at home and I felt like the badass woman and mom I should be every day.
That got me loving the feeling of it so much that I kept on going, even though it was hard.
I would get up at 5 am before 1 kiddo and the other kiddos next to me as I worked out. THAT was interesting at first, but we established a routine together and I learned how to keep him occupied for 30 minutes.
Then, I started eating better (cue, getting rid of sour patch kids, m&ms, cookies daily, in addition to 2 glasses of wine per night). I just went cold turkey are removed the crap so I could see what my body was capable of.
WHO KNEW..... I felt like a BILLION BUCKS!
So that got me on the ath of learning more about nutrition; clean eating, portions, more protein, healthier carbs, veggies, healthy fats, macros tracking and intermittent fasting.
You know what was harder than those new habits and changes? Being sad, mad and depressed. Feeling hopeless. That's hard.
