The Dennis Delay Baker University Scholarship was established in 2021 by his friends and family, to honor his memory. One scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 will be awarded to an applicant who is either already attending or is planning to attend Baker University in the fall.
Dennis was a 1963 graduate of Baker where he lettered 4 years in football and track. He received All-Conference honors in both sports and was inducted into the Baker Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
He was a long-time principal of Council Grove High School from 1968-1998. Dennis served as an official at numerous KSHSAA events like Track & Field, Football, and swimming. He was also a Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Hunters Education instructor for 47 years.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- Applicant must be a current USD 417 graduating senior or a USD 417 graduate.
- Applicant must be entering a full-time college program or currently enrolled in a full-time college program no less than 12 credit hours.
- Applicant must be enrolled at Baker University.
