    Democracy Partners brings together the best communications, advocacy, and organizing staff to help campaigns win. We are excited to partner with RepresentWV and RepresentUs on a cross-partisan campaign to pass the For the People Act, the most impactful anti-corruption law in decades.

    With threats to voting rights increasing and dark money in politics spiraling out of control, it's time to mobilize for common-sense reform to unrig our system and put power back into the hands of the American people. The For the People Act (FTPA) WV Organizers will recruit volunteers, train and develop leaders, secure social and traditional media coverage, and mobilize constituent contacts to advance the campaign.

    Location: We are looking for West Virginia-based candidates or other candidates with strong ties to West Virginia for this role.

    Timeline: We are hiring immediately. This is a full time, 12 week temporary contract position, with the possibility for extension.

    Responsibilities

    • Recruit volunteers – Build a volunteer base through relational community outreach.
    • Develop leaders – Train volunteers to take on immediate leadership. Develop ongoing leaders.
    • Constituent contact – Mobilize calls, organize grassroots lobby visits, and execute other tactics.
    • Work in coalition – Develop and hold coalition relationships with new and existing allies.
    • Secure media coverage – Execute media events and place letters to the editor.
    • Reporting – Track campaign progress with daily and weekly reports.

    Qualifications

    Must Have

    • Significant experience in advocacy, community, and/or electoral organizing.
    • Strong personal connection to West Virginia. You live or have lived and worked in the state.
    • Self starter and problem solver. You’re not afraid of a challenge and will hit the ground running.
    • Recruiter who’s able to mobilize community and personal networks and/or use creative ideas to build a group of volunteers quickly.
    • Commitment to working beyond partisanship – experience with cross-partisan coalitions is preferred.
    • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed to accommodate volunteer schedules.

    Desired Additional Qualifications

    • 3-5 years experience in advocacy, community, and/or electoral organizing.
    • Familiarity with voting rights, campaign finance reform, and/or good governance issues.
    • Experience working with media and running media events.

    Salary and Benefits: The salary for this position runs from $925 to $1,050 per week, depending on experience. Position includes a $75 monthly cell phone reimbursement.
