How will I participate in this Virtual Mental Health First Aid Training for Adults?
A: You will sign up with Developmental Pathways via the registration form. After you have signed up, you will receive an email confirming your participation in the training. Three weeks before the training, you will receive a link to set up your online MHFA account, you will then receive an email confirming your online account and providing you access to the 2-hour, self-paced online class.
A couple of days before the live training, you will receive a reminder about the class and a Zoom link for the online training at 9 am. If you would like some training on using Zoom, you can log on at 8:45 am for one-on-one support from your trainer, Amy.
Q: When does the training occur?
A: The virtual Mental Health First Aid training occurs three parts. First, participants set up their online MHFA account at least eight days before the live training. The account can be set up via computer, pad, or smartphone. This account will be where you can access all your materials, including your 3-year MHFA national certification information once you complete the course.
Second, participants take a 2-hour, self-paced, online session providing you an overview of common mental health conditions and the role of MHFAiders in supporting individuals dealing with a mental health condition. You can go through this online session at your own pace, leaving and returning as needed, but you must complete this self-paced, online session before five days before the live training at midnight. Your trainer will send you all the information you need and a reminder to complete your self-paced training.
The live training session begins at 9 am via Zoom on a Wednesday or Friday and completed by 4pm or earlier. There will be 30 minutes for lunch and several breaks throughout the day. This live session with MHFA Certified Trainer, Amy Petré Hill, will offer opportunities to practice how to support an individual experiencing a mental health crisis through fun exercises and discussion.
Q: When will I receive my certification as a Mental Health First Aider?
A: After the live session, you will receive an email inviting you to complete a simple multiple-choice test of your knowledge, an evaluation of your trainer, and then a link to download your certificate.
