  • This form is to be completed upon the return of a vehicle after a rental booking. It is required to be completed for insurance purposes and security deposits. Any incomplete forms or forms that do not have the signature of both parties may result in denial of any security deposits or insurance claims.

  • Step 1: Damage Walkthrough
    Record any damage, in this section, that occurred during the vehicle rental that was not noted on the Pre-Trip Inspection Form, or noticed before the rental. Photograph any new damage. Complete a comprehensive review of the condition of the entire exterior (and interior if vehicle type applies), including the undercarriage and the roof. It is important to look for any damages and document them at this time so that the renter can sign off on them. This will prevent the possibility of a claim or security dispute. If you find any damage after completing this document with the renter, you have 24 hours to report damage to DayTrail.

    This step reminds the renter of any additional fees that they may have incurred during the ride if they did not meet the responsibilities outlined in the booking details and agreement. Please record these in the presence of the renter.

    Reminder: The owner has up to 24 hours to request any claims against the security deposit or request additional charges be made to the renter. If there is a dispute, be sure to have all receipts, invoices, and photos available. 

    A renter has 24 hours to act on the owner’s request. If a renter would like to dispute the claim they have 24 hours to do so. Settled claims that exceed the security deposit may be charged to the primary renter’s credit card on file with DayTrail.


    Note that all security deposit claims and additional charges are subject to a 2.95% credit card processing fee that the vehicle owner may pass to the vehicle renter.
