People's Party Candidate Application

The People’s Party is opening nominations for its first generation of candidates. The national People's Party, in collaboration with our state chapters, will be supporting a diverse and dynamic slate of about a dozen congressional candidates in the 2022 midterm elections. These future representatives will help us blaze a trail for races at every level of government and shape the movement to give a real voice and choice to the voters of America. We're looking for candidates with a history of activism, organizing, and service to their communities. People who have lived the profound injustices that the corporate parties have imposed on our country. Future representatives with strong ties to their communities, who will fight hard for their constituents and the transformative change and policies embodied in the People's Platform. We look forward to making lasting change together.

Below is a list of some of our People’s Platform policies. Please indicate whether or not you support these policies, and would do so as a candidate and elected official. Our full platform is on our website.

The People’s Party believes in a transformative new social contract that guarantees every American healthcare, housing, food, a good-paying job, a basic income, a college education, expanded social security, strong unions, and a livable climate. It also guarantees freedom from war, mass incarceration, and monopolies and trusts.

We support the public financing of elections, banning super PACs, closing the revolving door between Washington and Wall Street, a national initiative power that lets American pass laws directly, a constitutional amendment declaring that corporations are not people and money is not speech, paper ballot voting, and switching to a thriving multi-party democracy with ranked choice voting and proportional representation. 

Clean air, clean water, nutritious food and healthcare are human rights. Everyone deserves an opportunity to grow and live in a safe and healthy physical and psychological environment. We support a single-payer healthcare system that guarantees every facet of healthcare for every person in this country. We also support infrastructure, climate justice, and environmental policies that ensure healthy communities and a livable planet for all.

We support bold and transformative climate justice that includes a federal jobs guarantee and addresses the immediate and future impacts of the climate crisis. These policies will include modernization of infrastructure, job training, clean energy transitions and tackling climate justice through social and racial justice work to help the entire world and communities most impacted by the destruction of our climate.

Racial and social issues are deeply systemic and weaved through every aspect of our society and government. Our platform at the People’s Party directly addresses policies that support marginalized communities. To name a few, we support housing for all; free and fair elections; ending gerrymandering; ending police militarization; honoring and protecting indigenous rights; equal rights for women; protection against LGBTQIA discrimination; the abolition of privatized prisons and detention centers; and immediate immigration reform that protects refugees and families and creates a swift pathway to citizenship. 

Each and every person deserves adequate and comfortable housing, food, clothing, comfort of living, a secure retirement, access to the internet, and fair wages for work. We support a basic income to provide for all and eliminate the deep and lasting impacts of institutional and generational poverty.

We support free early childhood education, subsidized child care, ending standardized testing, living wages for our teachers and educators, reversing the privatization of school systems, and addressing staggering student loan debt through tuition free public state and community college as well as student debt forgiveness to alleviate the growing burden impacting millions.
