• All Party Parliamentary Group on Geographically Protected Foods

    Producers
  • This survey is to help the APPG advise the Government on how to improve its Geographical Indicators Scheme.

Geographical Indication (GI) products are linked to territory, so that only certifiedproducers from a given area can use the name on products that conform to a codeof conduct. For example, only members of the Cornish Pasty Association that arebased in the County of Cornwall and which follow a pre-specified method of production can call their products a “Cornish Pasty”. Other example GIs include Scotch Whisky, Melton Mowbray pork pies, and Jersey Royal potatoes.
