Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a service dog or getting one trained by Buck's Dog Training, LLC, but it does not guarantee I'll get a puppy or service dog from this or any future litter. Buck's Dog Training reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.
APPROVAL AND DEPOSIT: I will review applications within 2 business days of receipt. Applications are processed in the order they are received. We will reach out to you via phone call or email or text so please check your spam and voicemails within two days for a response from us to either set up a consultation or to give you a status update on your application. If approved for one of our service dogs, a 50% deposit is required to hold the dog for you and set up training for the handler and dog to work together.
YOUR PICK OF SERVICE DOG: Dogs will be assigned in deposit order and by the tasks the dogs must perform. If none are available, you may elect another dog from a future litter. We ask that you make a choice within 72 hours of notification since there may be other families waiting for a chance to choose. Should you elect to not take a dog from the litter, the deposit is applied to a pick from another litter or forfeited and goes to the cost of placing that dog into a new home.
GOING HOME: We recommend getting these service dogs in the handler's home as soon as possible to build the bond between service dog and handler. Weekly check ins and lessons will have to be agreed upon and scheduled prior to a service dog leaving our premises. On-going training will be required of all service dogs placed from our company.
CONTRACT: We have a Contract and will not place a service dog without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your service dog.
SPAY/NEUTER: We require spay/neuter at or before 18 months. If you're a breeder you should probably look elsewhere. This might seem hypocritical at first glance, but we have a take-back provision in our contract. Any puppy from our home always has a home here, and will never experience the fear and burden of life at a shelter. Taking back an unaltered dog into our home poses significant risk to our own dogs due to canine STDs and the possiblity an unaltered dog could be pregnant. Sadly, many well-intentioned folks don't remember to spay before the first heat cycle, and suddenly their barely-adolescent dog is pregnant by multiple studs of unknown heritage. Spay surgery while pregnant is exceedingly risky, and several canine STDs such as brucellosis can be transferred to humans, which poses an unacceptable risk to our family. Because we take cradle-to-grave "original home" responsibility for the puppies we created, puppies must be neutered/spayed unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.
REGISTRATION PAPERS: Our excellent family companions do not come with registration papers to any registry. You are free to register your dog with the AKC, UKC or CKC under ILP or single registration status should you desire to enter events and competitions.
