2021 Newsroom Application to Host a Columbia Journalism Intern
Columbia Journalism School is funding up to 29 full-time 10- to 12-week editorial internships for its M.A. and M.S. level graduates in the class of 2021 at INN member news organizations. If your news organization wishes to be considered as a potential host, please complete this application. Applications are due April 26 by 11:59 PST, and applicants will be notified if selected by May 10. This form should be completed by the supervisor of the organization's intern program, or a staff member with authority over that program. Selected intern hosts are responsible for covering payroll taxes, workers compensation and other employment benefits as offered to all other temporary full-time employees. Hosts are responsible for all local, state and federal employment tax and payroll filings and compliance with HR requirements. Through INN, Columbia Journalism School will reimburse participating newsrooms up to a total of $8,000 per intern at the end of the internship period. If selected, the job description your organization provides here will be distributed to eligible Columbia students. Students who wish to apply for the position will apply to your organization through an online CJS application, and if you find a suitable candidate you will hire the intern. Newsrooms must notify selected applicants by June 19 for summer internships and July 15 for fall internships. Upon finalizing the agreement with the intern, you will notify INN.
