June 19 | Dance Calls for Movers 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM | Ages 10 - 18 | Do you feel nervous and dread dance calls? Has the fear of a dance call ever kept you from having fun or worse kept you from auditioning at all? Come move with Harley!Shockley Music & Theatre is thrilled to welcome New York-based performer and writer, Harley Seger for Dance Calls for Movers. In this masterclass, each student will learn about topics, tips, and tricks to make an impression in a dance call even if you're not working with years of technical dance training! Harley holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Boston Conservatory with an Emphasis in Songwriting. Harley has performer professionally in musicals all over the country and most recently performed Off-Broadway in one of the first New York productions after the theatre shutdown in 2020. Harley will give students the necessary skills to help with pick up choreography, make bold choices, and most importantly having fun in dance calls! This masterclass will include a warm up and combination with a focus on auditioning! It will be a fun and safe class to just let loose and realize all you have to offer.

June 26 | Design for Theatre 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM | Ages 15 - 18 | Shockley Music & Theatre is thrilled to welcome professional scenic designer and teacher Will Butler and professional costume designer and dancer, Christen Heilman, for this Design for Theatre masterclass. In this masterclass, each student will learn about "The Design Process" and how to take a vision and make it a reality. Christen's costume design experience along with Will's 10+ years of scenic design and build experience and unique ability to create original concepts that inspire audiences will give students the necessary skills to build their confidence in designing for the theatre. This masterclass will focus on the fundamentals of design and how to think critically and creatively to create their own unique designs.

July 3 | Broadway Rocks! 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM | Ages 12 - 18 | Shockley Music & Theatre is thrilled to welcome actor Emily Whitlow for this Rock/Pop audition masterclass. In this masterclass, each student will work on audition techniques for Rock/Pop repertoire under the guidance and direction of Emily. Emily's training from Boston Conservatory at Berklee and professional theatre experience will give students the necessary skills they need to nail their next audition and grow their repertoire! This masterclass will focus on student's audition technique and interpreting song. All students will sing their own pop/rock cut and Emily will work with each one individually to help them feel comfortable singing this increasingly desired sound in musicals!

In this masterclass, each student will learn to implement the performance techniques created by the Father of Modern Realism, Constantine Stanislavski under the guidance and direction of Kristin Butler. Kristin's undergraduate degree in theatre education and her 13 years of experience as a theatre teacher and director for high school students in The Hillsboro Players will give students the necessary skills to become confident in their ability to understand given circumstances, create a character, and perform that character under the lens of realism. This masterclass will focus on characterization, subtext, and motivation.
