About the Short Course
The Women’s Executive Leadership Development (WELD) Short Course is a leadership and development program for female leaders and senior officers from Mongolia’s public, private, and civil society sectors working in urban and rural areas, to build networks and develop strategies targeting the transformation of women’s leadership in Mongolia. This Short Course focuses on responding to COVID-19 recovery through connectivity, women in leadership, and strengthening local institutions. The WELD Short Course is composed of three components: Prepare; Engage; and Reflect and Apply. The WELD Short Course is funded and managed by Australia Awards in Mongolia. In Component 1, the Short Course Provider will be responsible for a series of activities with a clear focus on developing an understanding of leadership. Component 2 format will involve a five-day workshop, delivered both virtually and via a residential retreat in Mongolia. This will be followed by two days of virtual experiential activities. Component 3 will focus on reflection, demonstration, and evaluation; with online material focusing on core skills such as giving and receiving feedback.
Eligibility Criteria
- Willingness to deepen their understanding of gender issues in Mongolia and commit to supporting women’s leadership;
- Have a sufficient level of English (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent level confirmed through other English proficiency tests and English language training certificates);
- Willing to commit to the 3-month part time/as required participation (attendance and performance will be monitored by Australia Awards in Mongolia);
- Willing to participate in follow-up monitoring for at least 2 years after completion of the Program and alumni activities;
- Demonstrate willingness to deepen their networks and linkages with Australia;
- Demonstrate a supportive working and family environment to participate.
Expected Outcomes
- Improve their skills to measure, monitor, and communicate organisational performance, while driving change/s to improve performance across their organization;
- Understand the processes and systemic challenges facing women executives in all sectors;
- Understand current debates and strategies for valuing diversity in business leadership;
- Develop practical ideas, models, and tools for authentic, ethical, and effective leadership to foster a culture of accountability;
- Develop, expand, and strengthen personal and professional networks and connections with leading academics and industry leaders.
Application Process
1. Written Application: This round is an online application form comprised of personal details and short essay questions.
2. Interview: After online application screening, selected candidates will be notified over a phone call and invited for an interview at Australia Awards Mongolia.
3. Final Selection: Successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email.
