Suttle Lake Camp 2024 Summer Application
Thank you for your interest in opportunities available at Suttle Lake Camp for summer employment. We are seeking applicants that are interested in being a part of a welcoming, open faith community. As a team we create sacred spaces for campers and guests through engaging activities, delicious meals, meaningful spiritual experiences, and a clean well maintained facility. For the 2024 season we plan to hire for the following positions: lead cook, kitchen assistants, dishwashers, housekeeping and program staff (with a preference given to certified lifeguards). Part time and full time positions are possible. Full job descriptions are available at the camp web-site (https://suttlelake.gocamping.org/employmentopps?topic=Paid%20Employment) or by contacting Jane Petke at suttlelake@gocamping.org or at 541-595-6663.
Our Mission
Suttle Lake Camp is dedicated to creating sacred spaces of Christian hospitality and learning. Our staff live out the camp’s mission by embodying Christ’s love for all people no matter age, sexual orientation, gender, background, or culture. Throughout the summer, we serve a wide variety of campers and guests. For some summer events the camp is responsible for the program, lodging, meals, and even supervision for children and youth programs. Other events are sponsored by partnering non-profit groups who provide their own programs and leadership; Suttle Lake Camp serves as their host providing lodging, meals and/or some site-based activities. Through our ministry at camp we seek to fill the world with wonder, justice*, and love. *Dr. Cornell West defines justice as "what love looks like in public".
Logistics
Staff serve as a positive role-model for campers, guests, volunteers, and each other. Working at camp requires staff members to work, and often live, in close Christian community with an entire team of people. This offers a unique opportunity to explore and grow in your personal faith, make a difference in the life of others, learn life & leadership skills, make new friends, be challenged, and enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting. For the 2024 summer season staff training is scheduled to start June 10th. Summer work opportunities are available through Labor Day Weekend. If hired, the starting wage is $14.50/ hour. Staff living on-site working full time will be paid based on a 40 hour work week (starting at $580/ week). Lead Cooks are paid at a comparable hourly rate for this lead position. Shared housing and meals are offered as a benefit to full time staff living on site with no expense to the employee.
