Rehab nurses wear many hats: teacher, caregiver, collaborator, and patient advocate.
- The nurse’s goal is to assist individuals with a disability and/or chronic illness to attain and maintain maximum function.
- Help individuals meet their discharge goals after they have suffered a debilitating event.
- Participates in an interdisciplinary healthcare specialty that helps patients participate in individualized rehab by working with teams to establish specific goals for independence.
- Provides patient and family centered care.
