We intend on this being an extremely fun, family-friendly event – this is our 1st rib cook-off, of what we hope to continue as an annual fundraising event.

Any type of smoker or grill can be used however,

All registered cooking teams shall consist of one captain and no more than two teammates, for a total a of 3 contests per team.

You need to bring all seasonings, cookware and other items needed for the competition including tables and chairs, working surface. We recommend you bring your own water.

Access to a hose will be available (note shared water hose).

Food handling gloves will not be provided but must be worn at all times when handling food.

All competitors are subject to Health Department rules – please keep cooking area clean. Shoes ,shirts, and masks must be worn at all times.

You will need to bring any cooking utensils, pans, etc. that you will need. Madison Heights will not provide additional items for your use.

Any barbecue sauce can be made prior to the event and brought with you on the day of the competition. Sauce must be used in the cooking process – none may be served on the side. The ribs must be cooked from start to finish on premise and cooked to a temperature of 160 degrees.

Contestant must provide their own ribs. They can not be seasoned prior to competition. Must be stored at appropriate sanitary temperature. Temperature checks will take place at check in.

Please bring a table – please plan on only using the space in front of the table for your grill/smokers. If special accommodations will be requested, we need that included on the entry application so we are aware of it ahead of time. Approximate space for your area will be 10 ft. x 10 ft.

A coal dump station will be provided.

We are planning on 20-25 competitors – payouts may vary depending on number of competitors.

Styrofoam boxes will be provided for your rib delivery to the judges. No garnish will be allowed.

All grills and equipment must be removed by 6:00 p.m.

Due to residential area, please be mindful and respectful of the neighbors. We will be holding the event in the parking lot. The parking lot is located next to our neighbors – please keep noise to a minimum when loading and unloading

The first paid and completed entry forms received , will be added to the competitor list. If we fill up, you will be placed on a waiting list.

Judging will be based on Taste, Texture, Tenderness and Presentation. Prizes will be based on total combined points.
