Thank you for your interest in the South West District for Culture, Recreation and Sport Inc.
What Does the South West District Do?
The South West District works with people in southwest Saskatchewan to help them develop community culture, recreation, and sport programs.
What Does the BOARD Do?
The South West District Board acts as the voice for the communities, groups, and volunteers in the culture/recreation/sport sectors of the District. It is important that the Board is reflective of the communities the District serves.
The South West District Board is a policy governance board, with 3 core functions.
- To develop strategy.
- To write governing policy.
- To assuring the organization meets its strategic priorities.
Joining the South West Board is an opportunity to participate in the big-picture strategic vision for the District. You'll work with others in the culture/recreation/sport sectors and will gain valuable leadership experience.
Board Meetings
There are approximately 7 meetings per year; 4 in person* and 3 by Zoom video. This includes approval by email discussion/motion and attending governance training. *Please note, during the COVID health restrictions, all board meetings will be held by Zoom video.
Meeting times change to reflect the majority preference of current Board members. Reference reading is sent out two weeks before each Board meeting. Virtual meetings last around 2 hours.
