Reverse Painted Glass Shadowbox w/ Lynda Shalagan, Friday, July 9, 10 am - 2 pm
As there is no lunch break, bring a snack and water/drink. Masks required.
Beginning with a small purchased shadowbox frame with a glass front (supplied), we will be painting the foreground image in a reverse-painted technique on the back of the glass in acrylic paint. Using appropriately sized photographs as templates, we will create a focal image which will then cast a shadow on the background. The background will be handled in one of three ways: by creating a small painting on the supplied back panel, or attaching a selected photo to the back panel, or a combination of these elements.
$50 per person, plus $12 for materials, pre-registration necessary.
Max. 9 participants.
The $12.00 materials fee includes a 6” x 6” MDF shadowbox with glass and a primed panel for the background. You will choose either black or white as numbers permit.
You will bring:
Acrylic paints in a selection of colours, palette....... and palette knife (optional)
Brushes (tiny and should come to a good point) ie. 0, 1, 2, 1/8, 1/4 at least 3 sizes – 1 a bit larger
Other brushes for the background on the panel which you could paint, use a photo or a combination (there will be small selection of regular brushes available for use at ARTSPLACE)
Paper towel (optional)
Photos with consideration to a foreground image (glass) and a background (panel) or a combination of ideas and photos that you could put together. Keep the 6” x 6” size in mind as your foreground image must fit into the frame with space around and you will be using it for your pattern.
Lynda will also bring a variety of photos accurately sized for the frame for you to use if you like.
