Our Veteran Banners memorialize a Veteran, living or deceased, who lived in, or has strong connections to North Dundas, Ontario. All proceeds (after costs) raised by this program will go the Poppy Fund managed by the The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 108 (Winchester) and be used to help Veterans.
“A Veteran is any person who is serving or who has honorably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime.”
The Banner will fly annually along the main streets of Winchester from Legion Week in September until Rememberance Day and may be displayed at special Legion events for up to three years. The banner will then be given to the family as a keep sake.
This two sided Banner costs $275 and is considered to be owned by the sponsor who loans it to Winchester Branch 108 for use in the Banner Program. The Legion is not responsible for any loss or damage due to wind, other enviromental conditions, or other factors out of their control.
Payment is due upon being notified that your Banner will be produced this year. Payment must be received before we can produce the proof for your approval. A member of our committee will be in contact with you to pick up photo's and/or payment.
To be selected for this program:
1) The person being nominated must be a Veteran as defined by the Royal Canadian Legion (see first paragraph); and
2) They must have lived in North Dundas or have very strong ties to North Dundas with priority going to those who lived here; and
3) There must be a portrait style photograph, preferably in uniform, of the Veteran being nominated.
