  • This Week at Chabad...

  • "How Happiness Thinks" is a transformative course based on ancient Jewish teachings designed to help you become more mindful, intentional, grateful, and—most importantly—happier. The course is divided into four engaging parts:

    Part 1 - Weekly Classes
When: Every Thursday, starting November 7th
    Time: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Where: The Chabad Center - 1024 Harrisburg Ave (Next to Turkey Hill)

Each week, we will explore key concepts rooted in Jewish wisdom that promote a happier and more fulfilling life.

    Part 2 - “30 Good Things” Journaling
Participants will keep a daily journal, noting at least one thing they are grateful for or a positive experience they encountered. You're encouraged to write down as many “good things” as you like, and feel free to add any personal reflections. These journals are private and will only be shared if you choose to do so.

Part 3 - Happy Shabbat Dinner
    When: November 22
    Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Happiness thrives when we create intentional spaces in our lives. To practice this, we'll come together for a meaningful and joyous Shabbat dinner.

    Part 4 - Happy Reflections
To wrap up the course, participants will submit a one-page reflection paper. This will be followed by a closing ceremony where we’ll celebrate our journey together.

  • Honoring and Celebrating those killed on October 7th

Last year, October 7th fell on Shemini Atzeret in the Jewish calendar. As we approach the anniversary of that day, we observe the Yahrtzeits (Jewish anniversaries of passing) on Shemini Atzeret. Since this is a sacred holiday, a time of both reflection and joy, we will celebrate and honor their memory in two meaningful ways:

    1. Yizkor Service – Yizkor, the memorial prayer, is recited on major Jewish holidays, including Shemini Atzeret. This year, we will hold a special moment at the beginning of the Yizkor Service to honor the memory of those who passed on October 7th.

    2. Simchat Torah Dancing – "We Will Dance for Them" – These precious lives were tragically cut short before they could celebrate Simchat Torah. Jewish communities worldwide, including ours, will dance in their honor, continuing the joy and celebration they were unable to express on that day.
