Pacific Opera Pocket Operas June 12th and 13th
Join us as we see the work of our 12 Young Artists come together in their first Pocket Opera productions of the year. Performances are to take place in Darlington, with an exact address to be disclosed upon confirmation of donation.
Fidelio & Der Rosenkavalier | German Pocket Opera Double Bill
5pm Saturday June 12th in Darlington (exact address disclosed upon ticket purchase). Fidelio is Beethoven's only opera ever written and it tells how Leonore, disguised as a prison guard, rescues her husband Florestan from death in a political prison. Inspired by a true story, Fidelio combines Mozart-like grace and elegance with more dramatic writing, foreshadowing later composers such as Wagner. Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose) is Strauss' most famous opera and whilst a comedy on the surface, the opera muses on the passing of time and the challenges of growing old, as explored through the character of the Marschallin. The glorious final trio is one of the highlights of the opera and its best-known passage, Strauss even loved the trio enough to request that it be performed at his funeral.
The Rape of Lucretia | Pocket Opera
5pm Sunday June 13th in Darlington (exact address disclosed upon ticket purchase). The Rape of Lucretia is the first of Britten’s “chamber operas,” which he envisioned as bold, ambitious works composed on a relatively small scale for intimate settings - the perfect opera to be performed in 'Pocket size'. The opera revolves around a bet made between three Roman officers, Collatinus, Junius, and Prince Tarquinius, while they are at war with Greece. With themes still pertinent in today's society, this gem is not to be missed!

All tickets are purchased in the form of a tax deductible donation to Pacific Opera ($35 | $40) and include a free drink upon arrival. Once ticket donation has been received, the location of the performances will be disclosed.
