  • General Information

  • What is Student Council?

    Student Council is a student-based organization designed to help promote school spirit and leadership among students, staff, and families in the school, the neighborhood, and the community. Students participating in the Council will maintain a high standard of personal conduct. Council members will demonstrate leadership qualities by serving as good examples of behavior through their words and actions. All council members will be expected to participate in approved activities, which will serve to enhance the quality of the school culture and community.

    The purpose of Student Council is:

    • To develop positive attitudes and to practice good citizenship.
    • To promote positive relations throughout the entire school.
    • To improve student/staff relationships.
    • To improve school morale and general well-being.
    • To provide a forum for student expression.
    • To plan special events and/or projects. (Haunted Hallway, Walk for Cancer, ect.)

     

    During the school year we hope to:

    • Continue the traditions of previous Council members
    • Volunteer in our community
    • Meet with administrators to discuss students' perspectives on the school
    • Fundraise for various events, projects, outings, field trips, socials, etc.
  • Student Responsibilities

    • Advertise and promote ALL upcoming school events
    • Be present for 2 or more school-wide functions
    • Participate in ALL Student Council decisions. (We want to ensure ALL voices are heard!)
    • Must be present at fundraisers and sales during lunch hours
    • Must maintain a 2.0 GPA, to participate as a member of Student Council
    • Must adhere to and follow the Knights' Way belief of positive behavior within and outside school grounds
  • Teacher Recommendations

  • Please ask 2 teachers for a recommendation to be part of Student Council and add their names below. Make sure you speak to them or email them for their permission.

  • Please respond to the following questions. All responses should be 3-4 sentences in paragraph form. You must answer all THREE (3) questions.

  • I hereby give my son/daughter, , who is running for Student Council permission to be in a leadership role for the 2021 - 2022 school year. My child and I understand that to be involved with Student Council s/he must be willing to work every week during school, during lunch, and sometimes after school. S/he must also participate in ALL school activities including, but not limited to, spirit days, socials, and other school functions. I understand that my child must maintain a 2.0 GPA to remain in Student Council. Academic dishonesty (breach of integrity) is grounds for immediate dismissal from Student Council. I understand that my child must display leadership qualities on and off-campus, lead by example, and s/he must also follow ALL of Lincoln Middle School's Knights' Way Expectations.

    My child and I are fully aware of the expectations outlined above and are ready to make a commitment to Student Council for the entire school year of 2021 - 2022. We are aware that removal from Student Council will occur if these expectations are not met.
