New swimmers will need to undergo a trial to see which group is most suitable for their development needs. Please complete all sections to the best of your ability. Once we receive your application will arrange a suitable trial.

Trials are normally at 3.00pm on a Sunday at Wycliffe School, Stroud, and at 5.30pm on a Friday at Thornbury Leisure Centre.

D Group - First competition group for swimmers generally aged 8-10 years. Focus on building basic skills and some competition fitness - Competent swimmers over 100m in 3 of the 4 Strokes - Thornbury and Stroud areasC Group - Second level competition development group with swimmers generally aged 9-12 and working towards or achieved County Championship qualifying standards. Still developing skills and technique but higher levels of fitness expected. - Thornbury and Stroud areasB2 Group - Competent club swimmers aged 12-16 usually at or aspiring to County Standard - Thornbury and Stroud areasA2 Group - Competent club swimmers aged 14-18 that are unable or do not wish to commit to the expectations of A1 Performance Group swimmers. - Thornbury and Stroud areasB1 Group - Swimmers in this group are generally 10-14 years of age with a number of years of competitive development already in place. They are likely to be at County Finalist standard and may have already achieved Regional standard - Thornbury and Stroud areasA1 Group - Swimmers in this group are 12-18 years of age and already at a high standard with a level of commitment needed to improve. They are likely to be County Medallists and have Regional Qualification times and striving to improve for National Level times - Thornbury and Stroud areas
